The reserve is accessible only by sea, aboard boats, or on foot via hiking trails. The most famous route is the "Postman's Path," a trail once used by Guy Ceccaldi, the legendary postman of Girolata.

The reserve also encompasses the peninsula of Girolata and its picturesque village.
