"SACRED CHAMBERS"
In the Middle Ages, the construction of a fortified castle was strategic: ramparts, moats, keep, watchtowers, and drawbridge constituted the basic fortification elements. Over time, comfort and hygiene were added, with wider windows, spacious staircases, and beautiful decorations. During wars, these fortresses became vulnerable to the constant progress in artillery. Many castles were thus besieged, partially destroyed, and abandoned.
Head to Saint Mesmin Castle from July 5th to August 28th, every day, for a summer visit. In the role of a builder, an artist decorator, or a mercenary, this sacred permanent construction site will be shared all summer with actors like a meeting carved in stone to trace thus the turbulent stories of medieval castles:

• Build, by adding your stone to the edifice
• Adorn, by gracing the stone and making it marvelous
• Destroy, by striking two birds with one stone

Also available at the entrance: The grand riddle game of the castle "In Search of the Philosopher's Stone" can be shared in family or friend groups. Like alchemists, you will have to find the ingredients needed to create the true recipe for the Elixir of Long Life to save Hugues de Montfaucon, son of the castle lord, from imminent death. A one-hour fun moment to discover the castle while playing.

From July 5th to August 28th: 10:30 am to 7:00 pm.
(Between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm, activities are on pause; ticket office, gift shop, wooden games, picnic area, and fast food service remain accessible).
